    User charges not paid timely will be assessed a penalty of 10% with a $3.00 minimum charge, if not paid by the original due date and 1.5% per month penalty thereafter on any unpaid balance. Continued nonpayment will result in additional collection actions and may include disconnection of sanitary sewer service or termination of water service. Costs incurred for any collection efforts will be the responsibility of the account holder to pay.

    Shut-Off Notice

    The laws of the State of Illinois allows for the termination of water service to any premise, for which the wastewater treatment charges remain unpaid for 30 days or more. Once a customer's water service has been shut off and prior to the water service being restored, the customer must make a full payment of all delinquent sewer service and user charges, plus any charges the District incurred terminating the water service and reconnection fees reestablishing the water connection.
    To avoid the termination of water services, the customer can pay the outstanding payment due by accessing our online customer portal.
