Flagg Creek Water Reclamation District from time to time will smoke test sanitary sewers for defects in areas with above normal water infiltration. Sanitary sewers are constructed for wastewater only and not for storm water and residential and commercial runoff infiltration. Please see the "Definition" hyperlink for a description of what smoke testing entails.
In a joint effort, smoke testing issues discovered during the smoke testing process are corrected or attempted to be minimized by the District and its residences to reduce infiltration of storm water and excess runoffs entering the collection system.
Currently, smoke testing is scheduled from July 30th to August 3rd, 2018 in the village of Clarendon Hills.
Under the hyperlink "Testing Area" is a letter issued to residences in the affected area and a map of the smoke test area.
